Meet Troy Bondurant
Since he was a child, Bondurant has understood the relationship between hard work and achievement. When he wanted a shiny new bike, Bondurant got a paper route and began delivering all around his southern Louisiana town. That’s when Bondurant caught the entrepreneurial bug. “I guess you could say I was a weird kid,” Bondurant said. “By the time I was ten, I was running my own drive-thru snow cone stand. I loved running the numbers and serving people every summer.”
Bondurant has always been interested in how stewardship enables us to enrich our lives. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BSBA in Accounting and Finance and a Master of Professional Accountancy, Bondurant went on to sit for the CPA exam. As a Certified Public Accountant and as a comptroller for a local bank, Bondurant enjoyed running numbers and looking out for the welfare of his employers. Still, he knew that he could do more to help people understand their finances.
“As I transitioned from accounting to financial planning, I really hit my stride,” Bondurant said. Already accustomed to studying and taking grueling certification exams, Bondurant decided to become a Certified Financial Planner, a fiduciary whose sole purpose is to improve the finances of his or her clients. “The best part of being a CFP is that we are required to act in our clients’ best interests,” Bondurant said. “Every time a CFP sits down with a client, he is there to offer sound, tested advice that will help the client do what is best for them , not the advisor.”
At ICOM, Bondurant offers comprehensive financial plans free of charge. “I would rather talk a potential client out of a bad financial decision than gain business just for the sake of gaining business,” Bondurant said. “It’s about long-term financial planning and long-term relationships. Money is here to serve people, and not the other way around.”
With several certifications (CPA, CFP), a heart for service, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Troy Bondurant believes that ICOM is a place where sound advice trumps gimmicks and strings-attached consultation. “We’re here to help people understand what their money can do for them,” Bondurant said. “Comprehensive, long-term planning based on mutual trust is a huge part of who we are here at ICOM.”
